What would you do different if you went back in time

Okay ya'll, what would you do different if you could go back to 1986 at UHS but were the same person you are today? Meaning, did you learn anything about yourself in the last 20 years...

1. Name
2. Who would be your favorite teacher? Why?
3. Who would you have like to hang out with but didn't at that time?
4. What would you like people to know you as? (kind, funny, outgoing, witty)
5. What would you change about yourself?
6. What would you do different that you didn't do back then?

2. I remember Dr. Pottenger making Science fun and not intimidating; Mr. Cohen for introducing me to subliminal advertising;, Mr. Lee for his lessons on The Heart of Darkness / Apocalypse Now and also iambic pentameter, etc.; Mrs. Matsumoto for trying her best to teach math to a mathphobe; but my favorite teacher is my basketball coach Scott Yamashita. I learned discipline, challenging myself to do better, and to work as a team. I know the whole sports things sounds cliché but hey, it works for me. BTW Philip, being the setter in high school was fun.

3. I too would've liked to spend more time with folks from other classes. In our class, it would've been interesting to hang out with Drew, the Drama Brats, and Tagako (being new and from a different culture she seemed to try her best to fit in but we (at least I) never made an effort to get to know what her interest were, etc.

4. Mellow.

5. Less judgemental.

6. In a conversation with Teri and Jud I said that I would've liked to have paid more/any attention in orchestra. My wife Janet plays the piano and a lot of our friends here play instruments and are very musically talented. We go to a fair amount of concerts (chamber orchestra, SF Jazz Festival) and it would be good to be able to participate in discussions about music in a meaningful way instead of saying "yeah, that sounds nice...". Some friends have introduced me to the music of Sibelius -- and it sounds nice... :)

I also would've taken Japanese classes at the university instead of 4 years of learning what I already knew. We travel to Japan fairly often and it would be good to be able to read at a level higher than preschool.
